My wife and I stayed in Cabin #4 in the end of August.
Pros: The owners were nice and helpful. This is always a plus.

The cabin was rustic, not frilly. We enjoyed it - clean and comfortable and had what we needed.

The country around the area is beautiful - it's over 10,000 feet so it was cool at nights. There is fishing access to the Conejos River along Forest Rd 250 (the road you come in from coming from Chama).

Cons: It's hard to tell from the pics but the cabin is not near the river. We had to drive to it to fish.

There was no nice porch or sitting area outside our cabin. There were picnic tables outside but they weren't shaded. Besides a single plastic chair there was no outside furniture to sit on. The views of the mountains was limited to ones covered with trees so there was no wildlife viewing from the cabin area.

We had a good time there and I would recommend this place as long as it is understood what the area is like.

The owners Fred & Deb are super nice and take care of their guests.
Cabins are cozy, comfortable, and well maintained.
Great Base Camp with access to hundreds of miles of hiking trails, ATV Trails, Fishing, Horse Back Riding. If you are looking for God's Country- This is It!

We spent a week here for our 5th anniversary and loved every second of it! Amazing views, great cabin, fun fishing and hiking, and Debbie and her family (and dogs) are the nicest people in Colorado! The drive in on FSR 250 was a little daunting at first, but once you get used to it, it’s no big deal. Can’t wait to come back!!!

I've been coming to Colorado Elk hunting for almost a decade. That said, I can't remember ever having as good of a time as I did there. The staff was amazing as well as all the other guests. Everyone there is treated like family. I will be back for many years to come.

Very nice Lodge. Has more of the creature comforts that city campers would hope in their rather nice coffee shop. Friendly owners, and nice decor. Enjoy your camping trips to Platoro.

I spent mannnnny summers her as a young girl, on family vacations. I'm revisiting it again this month! It's SUCH a beautiful, tranquil place. Cozy. clean cabins... and always friendly helpful staff!!
