Did the summit trail. Short, easy trail. Good for beginners. Barely any people at 10am on Friday, but with the fires I didn't expect many. Can tell there's a lot of wildlife around, though we didn't see any.

A short hike up the hill brings you to a scenic spot with a flagpole and some excellent views of the surrounding landscape. Even in late spring there is still a possibility of snow, so make sure to wear good hiking boots to this area. Quite a bit of snow was present at certain locations on the trail around early May 2021.

Have been our go to place to take out of towners for a good hike. The hike to Genesse summit takes about 40 minutes. When you get there, the views are breathtaking. It is a very mild hike that can be done without much preparation. If you are lucky, you can see herds of Bison. Excellent for families, dogs and kids.

I love this place but I have a few complaints. I have been coming here for years. There used to be much more wildlife, including deer and elk. But there is many new homes in the area and the wildlife seems scarce now. Also, you used to be able to drive to the top. Now the road is blocked off. On one nice summer day, after hiking around, I fell asleep in my truck. A sheriff came along and I guess being bored, decided he needed to harass me. No drugs or alcohol. No wants or warrants. Just a little nap in the shade. He made me provide dl, registration, proof of insurance, and an explanation what I was doing in the park. For half an hour. Then he left.

Excellent trails and scenery, just a short drive from the city. The grounds are well maintained and they have a large parking lot with great views.
