I’ve been in the real estate industry for a long time. Laura and team are some of the hardest working, fantastic professionals I’ve encountered. Their attention to detail is unmatched. We rented A FURNISHED townhouse in the prestigious area of Wellington in Palm Beach and we left our short term rental with a bitter memory because of the deceitfulness of this management company.
During our stay we encountered many issues such as 3 smoke detectors going off in our sleep each week like clockwork, the AC unit having to be repaired 3 times (leaving us with no AC for over 1 week +) and the garbage disposal malfunctioning the day we moved in. All these occurrences prevented us from leaving the house on multiple occasions, in order have technicians come over to our place and fix the issues. Basically the unit needed a lot of work because of its age but was still aesthetically pleasing. In addition, they tried charging us for this maintenance when it was clearly stated on our contract the landlord would handle the costs. (thankfully we caught this)
Their management portal had so many glitches so we weren’t able to make payments online and they threatened to charge us a late fee which left us no choice to displace ourselves to Jupiter (a 1 hour drive) to pay our rent.
When we moved out, we did not get the option to be present during the walk through for the return of our security deposit and so they shockingly charged us for an absurd amount of items. The charges were ALL for WEAR and TEAR such as new sheets, new comforter, new kitchen items, a new couch cover.
They additionally charged us over 400$ in cleaning fees. We left the unit clean, we are not pigs. We are homeowners and landlords as well, with an understanding of respect for a property and they charged us for deep clean, furniture clean, pet clean, so many different cleans to make their claims credible.
Basically, everything they charged us wasn’t even on the inspection report. Clearly unlawful charges they thought we’d look past probably because so many of their wealthy clients look past it and they get away with it. That’s manipulation and dishonesty.
They were so unprofessional, claiming by email MOST of the damages were from our dogs but then nothing they charged us had anything to do with our dogs.
Finally we settled on an agreement, my husband doesn’t think our energy is worth fighting for more but based on our lawyer we’d easily win in court. This is what they do, they know their clients have bigger fish to fry and take advantage. Never did I think I’d experience this from a company that claims they’re so prestigious.
Be aware if you’re renting through this company, take pictures, and ask to be present in the walk through, its your legal right.
