The worst housing experience. They have such little care for their residents. The community pool heater has been broken all summer long - they have had the part for weeks yet no ETA on when it will be repaired. There’s no AC in the houses - opening the windows doesn’t help much when the sun cooks our house all day. The layouts of most houses make no sense and they lack major storage space. The communication system between leasing, maintenance, and residents isn’t there. After you submit a WO online, no one calls you to schedule a time and date, they just show up. We moved into this house the last week of November and in March we saw a huge amount of black mold build up in my daughter’s closet - I was extremely upset as I have a high allergen to mold and asked for them to replace the carpet since it was soaked in moldy water - they tried to just dry it out and call it a day. I had to keep bugging them - it felt like they don’t take mold very seriously. They also tried to insist we were the reason for the mold and stated we broke the condensation spout to the heater from mowing. I explained that we just recently mowed for the first time and there were no broken pipes in the yard - the house simply was not move in ready. It also took them weeks to compensate us for personal damages - the housing office told us to submit an insurance claim, however my damages didn’t meet our deductible - I had to get military housing involved because they tried to ghost me and sweep everything under the carpet. The market here is so poor that living on base seems like the only option for military families. These houses are not worth the BAH. They should really invest in their houses and community. The neighborhood parks have mushrooms growing all over. Such a disappointing living experience.

If I could rate this 0/0 I would. I moved out of Vandenberg housing within the past year. I had 2 ladies from housing office show up to my house to conduct my pre-inspection. At my doorstep I was asked if I had any pets and replied "2 cats". I was told to lock my cats up because one of the ladies did not like cats. I asked if she was allergic or if it's policy for me to lock them away during pre-inspection and they said no. I told them I am not going to lock up my cats just because you don't like them and that's a personal problem. These cats are also my ESA's. After that, the lady gave attitude throughout the pre-inspection and even made snarky/mean comments about my cats when they would follow us around during the inspection. She would also over exaggerate and jump in the presence of my cats. It finally came time for my final out inspection, sadly, I had the same people from my pre-inspection also do my final out, what a coincidence. I also had to do my final out inspection with my roommate present (which I was not aware of and did not have to do before but whatever). After it was completed I was overcharged for replacing the entire carpet for the house when there were just minor damages to the carpet in my room only. I was also humiliated because my roommate told the ladies from housing he would not sign anything for me to be released until I had my room spotless even though I cleaned my room and vacuumed it several times prior, however he wanted any tiny specs cleaned and everything literally spotless. It was so humiliating as I was sweating and crying while cleaning again, this time with only my barehands and all purpose spray as everything else was already packed up in the truck. All of this just for me to get released so that I can start the big road trip I had ahead of me, a 7 hour drive with 2 U-HAULs. I've never had to experience this kind of treatment from any housing office in my entire life, it is no wonder that BBC has been sued. I hope no one has to go through this experience I went through. This deserves compensation, luckily I have witnesses who were there with me that will testify the unfair treatment and how poorly it was handled. I will be returning with lawyers Vandenberg Housing Office.

Save yourself a headache and don't move in here. During our 2 year stay here the power frequently went out for 13+ hours due to bad equipment. This happened over and over due to the same issue. Hundreds of dollars of food had to be thrown out. Also, my payments were messed up for three months in a row. Housing took more money from me than what should have been taken from my check and just expected my family to constantly wait for refunds. If it wasn't for having a savings, my family would have missed payments on other bills. Lastly, a few members of the staff have major attitude problems and are really rude when you come to them with an issue. I could go on and on about other complaints. Morale of the story is, I would highly suggest looking elsewhere for your next home.

We have resided in base housing for the past 9 months and have had no issues with BBC at all. When arriving here at VAFB, they also managed to prepare a house in short order to move up our wait time from 5 weeks to 1 week! Any house corrections that needed to be made were completed within 24 hours, including a broken oven the DAY BEFORE Thanksgiving! All staff has been nothing but respectful and accommodating to the most extent possible. I would gladly recommend them to incoming personnel and I thank them for helping to make our stay here at VAFB a pleasant one!

TLDR. VFH screwed up so they send collectors after me.

Some nice and helpful folks but the higher ups must be extremely unorganized. Just got out about four months ago then come to find out I had debt collectors sent after me from VFH for $350. Never received a call, email, or letter about any debt prior to this even though they have both my personal phone/email on record. They did send somthing to my government email which I no longer have access to. They would know that by the paperwork I did which had my reason for moving out as "separation from the military". I only found out about this from the debt collectors themselves over 2 months after my date of separation. When I called VFH I was deferred to the financial manager who only took on a bad attitude when I wanted to know why I owed for. The debt was for the 3 days I stayed past the first of the month. Instead of trying to help she basically told me to kick rocks and pay up.
Now the real kicker is that all payments to VFH where made by AF finance. Money would automatically be taken out of my check and sent to them. When I received my final BAH I had all deductions (rent, bulk trash, and some minor damage repairs) taken off. As far as I knew everything was fine but instead of being professional and making literally any effort to contact me directly they send the debt collectors to ruin my credit.

Currently deployed and my wife just had our first child. My wife had someone take some things to the curb for bulk pick up and my wife receives a call stating she has to move everything because pick up isn't for another week. She tells them that currently she doesn't have anyone to help and that I'm away. The lady then says either it gets moved or she's going to contact my first sergeant. You want to talk about livid right now. Balfour Beatty is overpriced and the houses although nice for the most part are very cheaply made. Balfour Beatty will definitely be seeing me when I come home because this is highly unsatisfactory, unprofessional and plain rude. The worst part of being stationed at Vandenberg air force base is having to deal with Balfour Beatty.

They're a joke. The new employees say they want to help and make everyone happy, but we can't even move out of this mold ridden house and they wont even try to give us new flooring. Plus balfour beatty takes your next month's rent after you move out so GOOD luck trying to afford anything when they have all your damn money.

Fake service. They changed once you signed the contract. I would rather live off base and save some rent.
