Do no rent from this company! I have made multiple attempts (email, texts, and voicemail) to get my security deposit back and have been ghosted. Moved out on June 1st. Will be filing a small claims case.
Through out the 3 years living there I have lost heat in the winter multiple times and during the coldest days of the year. They gave us a space heater the first time after I made multiple complaints but took it back, which didn’t help because I continued to lose heat on and off for the 3 winters I lived there. And 3 months prior to moving out my AC stopped working and he also ghosted me on that. The place also has an ant and centipede problem. Multiple times homeless people broke in and loitered hallways and front entry area, was doing drugs and twice broke the glass side entry doors. Had to call the police multiple times about this. Packages were getting stolen and the landlord refused to up cameras or do anything about it. Because of people attempting to break in the front door the lock was constantly broken or not working and you were unable to use the front door for weeks at a time. There’s drug deals happening in the parking lot often and had to call the police about that as well. There’s also people who loiter and do drugs in the parking lot, near the dumpster, and yard area. I have photos to prove all of these claims. They never shovel the snow or salt the communal walkways. And plowing is hit or miss. I have never been late with my rent payments and left the apartment in great condition upon moving out.
And after all I dealt with for the past 3 years they are ghosting me on returning my deposit.

Sadly I have to give such a low rating because they are now almost 7 days late of returning my security deposit. I have emailed many many times, called and their voicemail is full. My last attempt was a certified demand letter that my legal counsel advised I send. If I still don’t hear back, I will be taking them to small claims court. I just want my money back per the lease agreement that states after 21 days I would receive my security deposit.

I lived there for 2 years and was a good tenant. I left the place in good shape. So I really don’t understand why it would come to this.

I ultimately enjoyed living there during my tenancy but they are extremely hard to get ahold of. And now this, has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.

I have been trying for months to get my security deposit back. I have called, emailed, texted and nothing came if it. Not to mention I got carbon monoxide poisoning from the stove that was not hooked up correctly in 2022. I couldn't afford to move anywhere else so I stayed and the property manager gifted me with a carbon monoxide detector. That's it. I should've sued for the $7,000 medical bill. There was water damage on my ceiling from a "storm" even though there was an apartment right above me, and they would not check for mold to ensure I wouls not get sick again. They are also still trying to charge me rent through tenant cloud and I have not lived there for 5 months.

I have to give this a one star because I have to dispute my application fee since no one is picking up the phone. I have had an application on file for the last three weeks with no type of communication and no update to my application for housing. This is absolutely not OK. I left multiple voicemails as well as multiple emails and you would think after three weeks. Someone will contact you back. I am going to dispute this application fee with my bank because this is just not right, you can’t collect application fees and not even communicate whether an application has been approved or denied that’s just not OK

For some reason, this is the only way to communicate with you guys so if someone can, please contact me to figure out what is available and if you have any vacancies that will be great. No one answer the phone so we really have no choice, but to go online and just apply to what states is available. I am looking for anything that’s available that you guys have preferably a two bedroom. Is there a way for someone to call me so I can figure out what it is. I have reached out to the people who I paid the application fee to and They are stating that as long as they get the request from you guys, they can go ahead and refund me back my money for the application since I’m having a very difficult time figuring out what’s available. I would have never applied for that unit , if it wasn’t available but because we can’t even contact you by phone or email and can’t leave a voicemail because the voicemail box is full how else are we supposed to know what not to apply for if there is nothing available I would like to have my money refunded back. Pros:
Affordable: 800 for a two bedroom unit, 25 for an extra parking space, and cheap utilities.
Friendly: Justin the property manager was incredibly nice. Service orders were taken care of and repaired promptly.
Spacious and updated: The unit itself was a great size and had new flooring and other updates.
Honest: Justin was very transparent and helpful. We took good care of the unit we were in and got our security deposit back promptly and in full.

Cons:
Hard to get in contact. Sometimes it would take around a week of calls/emails/texts before hearing back
The area: At the lovers lane property, Hyundais and Kias are stolen regularly (my own stolen 3 times in 2 years). Justin was very quick to install security cameras and to make the process easier to deal with, but unfortunately I would say find another property if you drive a Hyundai or a Kia.
Laundry units in the basement aren't very efficient and would sometimes stain clothes and take multiple cycles to fully dry.

Overall impression: Great affordable apartment where the owner and property manager are doing pretty much everything right, but with a few unfortunate risks that are out of their control.

I lived in this apartment building for 15 years before it was purchased by Hoffmann properties two years ago. I have not had very much interaction with the actual landlord, but I have with Justin, the property manager. He has always been professional, friendly and responsive. They have made a number of repairs to the apartment building which I very much appreciate. I recently moved from apartment number 2 to apartment number 1 as it was remodeled with new windows, floors, bathroom and I am happy with the move. They have been completely understanding about the fact that when they bought the building I already had three small dogs and a cat. I don’t plan on moving anytime soon.
