I am writing once again to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the ongoing issues at The Point at Fairview, located at 669 Covered Bridge Parkway, Prattville, Alabama 36066. The condition of the property has deteriorated significantly, becoming both an eyesore and a source of safety and health hazards for residents.

It is increasingly evident that the corporate owners have not prioritized the safety, well-being, or concerns of residents. Many of the current issues stem from substandard work by previous maintenance teams, who often implemented cosmetic fixes rather than addressing underlying problems.

The problems in my apartment are particularly severe:

·         Mold in vents: My apartment vents consistently harbor mold, which has caused breathing problems for my three children and me. Two of my children rely on nebulizer machines, and I suffer from chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, and allergic rhinitis, all documented disabilities recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mold testing in my apartment confirmed the presence of mold.

·         Faulty HVAC repairs: The HVAC system has been inadequately repaired with materials like duct tape and wood rather than proper fixes.

·         Balcony light fixture: Despite reporting this issue, the light fixture on my balcony has remained broken since I moved in.

·         Maintenance and repair policy: Residents are instructed to purchase their own paint and materials for small repairs, including from Sherwin-Williams nearby, as maintenance will not provide these services.

·         Exterior conditions: The exterior walls are turning green with discoloration, and there is still no lighting in the backyard area for residents to safely use the space.

·         Safety concerns: There is no fence to prevent wildlife from entering from the woods, nor any barrier to secure the back road nearby, posing a risk to children’s safety.

·         Balcony and porch railing: The railings are unstable, causing safety concerns for my children.

·         Pest control services: Despite monthly pest control charges, services are only provided upon request, and during a recent request, the service was skipped while I was at work, as confirmed by my doorbell camera.

·         Lighting removal: Alabama Power removed light poles, and although we were promised replacement walkway lighting, no progress has been made.

·         Structural concerns: The balcony and porch ceilings are sagging and show visible signs of structural instability.

These conditions are unacceptable and unsafe. It is deeply troubling to live in an environment where basic maintenance and safety issues are neglected. Despite paying rent, residents are left to endure substandard living conditions.

Ever since this management company bought my apartment complex in July, everything has gone down hill. These people are a bunch of scammers and I wish everyone could get together and sue them. Not to sound like a Karen or whatever but these people are horrible! Go look at any apartment that’s in their care and see how bad everything has gone down. These people don’t care about anything but money. I already had signed my lease before they bought the property but they still want to add on extra charges despite the lease agreement. They want residents to pay their electricity in the common areas, where is that okay Trash has went up to $15.00 and pest control went up to $3.00, so did water and sewer. They have no good excuse on why it went up. Again, despite my lease saying one thing they still want me to pay what new residents suppose to pay. Also, they ‘lost’ my rent money, I paid my rent on time each month. But I get notices on my door saying I still owe money which I know I don’t. Their math doesn’t make sense at all. And when I try to get things resolve, no one answers the phone or emails, forcing me to go down to the office. They claimed they’re busy and in meetings but they just be sitting around gossiping, the so-called meetings are probably about how can they charge residents to breathe. Things used to be smooth sailing, my apartment complex was peaceful, I used to love it. Now that Highland Vista Group came in everything went downhill, it’s no longer peaceful, I have to live in fear that I’ll get a notice on my door saying I owe rent. Even though, I paid what I owed. I’m definitely not renewing my lease, but I’m sure when I move out they’ll find a way to still scam. This isn’t your first property, you somehow keep buying many, you would think you guys could do better. Be more organize, communicate with the residents more, and stop going up on stuff when it’s not needed. People are already struggling but I’m sure you don’t care, you just want more money. A house is cheaper than renting from these people.

This company bought my apartment in September 10 or 11 and for the 2 months they’ve been here, it’s been an absolute disaster. They didn’t have portal open for October 1st so they told everybody to just take a guess at what you’ll pay. If you pay over you got credit for next month but if it was under the next month they charge extra for what you missed. November they told us the “system” failed to put in utilities so rent was paid for. They charged utilities to the account and wanted you to pay. Then thanksgiving week. Someone’s washer water was leaking into my apartment so I tried calling emergency maintenance, number doesn’t even work, called the office number and left a voicemail. The office has a sign up on their door that says open but failed to hear me knocking on the door. Monday when everything is open again, I’ll be making a call to the housing authorities because this is ridiculous!

Too be honest I'm never really home but on the 2 occasions we've had 2 murders and 3 cars vandalized. The curtesy officer isn't worth a damn he's living rent free . Now to the other problem my account was hacked on a Saturday in which no one works in the office so I had to postpone my load a few extra hours to speak with management about getting the $200 late fee waived because clearly waiting on a new card isn't my fault and as usual the company doesn't give a damn . The corporate office doesn't answer the phone nor does the office on site and at this point I'm feeling like this is very unprofessional . I don't want to see a generated response tell Shunta Woods to call me directly damn an email

This company stole my security deposit and refuses to give it back. They knowingly have stairs that lead directly to my apartment that are not up to code and refuse to fix them. If you find yourself in a situation where you must rent from them do NOT set up auto pay. They will steal from you. They ‘accidentally’ double charge you for things. And good luck getting that money back because they never respond to any form of communication. In my 1 year of renting with them they have or attempted to steel over $700 from me in various fees.

edit: 2 weeks since the companies response below. I have called and emailed multiple people multiple time. Not a single one has responded to my emails or voicemails and no one answers the phone. Thieves. This is theft.

I was briefly employed by Highland Vista Group (HVG) in 2024, and my experience was nothing short of appalling. This company not only treats their employees poorly but also their tenants, who are subjected to substandard treatment and blatant disregard for their concerns.

One particularly disturbing incident involved my personal belongings, valued at over $600, being thrown away by Lisa Pope, a YARDI trainer from HVG. These items were discarded without my consent, and when I attempted to address this issue, I emailed Sheryl Stoffgren in hopes of resolving it. Instead of receiving a response or any semblance of professionalism, I was met with silence—Sheryl Stoffgren outright blocked me.

The lack of accountability and respect from this company is staggering. Both employees and tenants deserve better than what Highland Vista Group offers. I cannot stress enough how terrible this company is. If you’re considering working for or renting from HVG, I urge you to think twice.

Updated: it took a lot of reaching out via many avenues, but eventually a representative from HVG reached out to resolve the problems i experienced.

You guys bought out my apartment and it went downhill fast. I was dealing with those issues, until you raised my rent 30% with less than 40 days notice, then tried to ask me to pay an extra months rent at the month-to-month fee because I did not give you 60 days notice, even though I was planning to stay and was feeling comfy, finally adjusted to all the issues (and there's a lot.) I am at Renaissance St. Andrews - Apartments in Louisville, KY. I have 40 days to figure out how I am going to find a new place I can afford, and somehow gather the money to move, after already being paycheck-to-paycheck working full time as a very underpaid high school teacher in a very rough city. I was a good tenant. I paid my rent, i've taken care of my unit, finally got it cute how I like. This entire ordeal has spiraled me back into major depression, I was finally comfy and feeling okay after moving here a year ago.

Need a new accountant for their Georgia area. Not willing to really fix anything for residents as per their lease. Lot of property problems. Too many occurrences of not paying their vendors on time or as they should. Lacks professional decorum when it comes to communication. Pointless meetings on the same thing when there are bigger issues to resolve. Not willing to budge when it comes to staff until it’s too late; will act as if they didn’t know there were any problems but really just failing at being proactive. Doesn’t show any care to residents or appreciation to staff. The hurricane came and noone asked about if anyone was okay and still wanted staff to show up in drastic conditions while they were out in safety and comfortable living with their families. Corporate is the main headache. Displeased!
No resources were provided for anyone atleast during that time.
