I had a half year contract to sell my townhouse in Novato California. With Miguel being my agent, I didn’t renew the contract once it expired and then got new realtor and they came in telling me every light in the house was on ( I wondered why I had a $300 electric bill when I living there all alone would have $30 + Electric bill ) end it looked like nobody had been there in weeks , and my deck was covered in redwood debris and cobwebs and my new floor needed to be washed . Holmes Burrell never contacted me about needing to pay for occasional gardener clean up which I would’ve gladly done so that my house looks presentable for a buyer coming to look at my Property . I’m very disappointed to say the Least with this Real estate agency

Not trustworthy!

I worked with Jason Holmes to purchase a duplex in San Rafael in March 2018, and it turned out to be nightmare. He knows the realty business very well and pushes the boundaries of the laws for his personal benefits but not for his client's. Here is why:

1) Disclosure Issue: He sent one of the disclosure forms for me to sign on the day of closing escrow that there was a break-in in the property in the past. He blames the listing agent and others and doesn't take the responsibility.

2) Open Permit Issue: There is an open permit issue around the decks and stairs. The seller didn't want to deal with it. During escrow before removing contingency, he said that I can sell the decks "as is" and didn't clearly inform me of the implication of not having the seller pull the permit on decks and stairs during negotiating. In the meantime, his home inspector praised on the decks out loud, "the decks are well built!". As matter of fact, I found out later that the decks and stairs got potential safety issues and learned that as new owner I am required to pull the retro active permit now and bring everything up to the code.

3) Violation of Privacy: He included private information of other client of his in one of the disclosure forms that he asked me to sign.

This is my first home buying experience in Marin county, I relied on Jason to guide me and help me to make sound decision for every steps of the buying process. He failed to fulfill that contract in my view. Working with him and his home inspector led me to making compromised decisions in negotiating price with seller.

I would be extra careful if you have to work with him to buy or sell as you don't know where the traps are. Based on my experience, it is highly unlikely he will guide you to the light particularly if it is a big ticket item that would break a deal.

There are no words for how much my partner and I appreciate and recommend Arun! As first time home buyers, we had a LONG list of boxes to check in what we were looking for. For an entire year, it felt like we had daily questions, texts or phone calls. The housing market was extremely competitive since the beginning of the pandemic and there were times we felt so discouraged, and other times we felt so guilty for all the time Arun invested in setting up weekly showings for us. It really was amazing to have someone so helpful, upbeat and reliable to walk us through the process and help us every step of the way.

We ended up moving into our absolute dream home over the weekend...and really the only bummer is that it started to feel like our realtor was our new best buddy and we likely won’t be seeing him every week anymore ?
