Bought my house in November and setting up service was not an easy task... then I realized I never got a bill so i called and they couldn't find my address. They realized that they had my address spelled differently in their system. And they said that I signed up for e-bill so I had to pay late charges... even so, IMO they should absolutely send a paper bill for the first few month because the email looked like spam so yes technically I missed it. After much stress I hopped onto the website to pay and they wasn't easy so i just paid via phone. I wanted auto pay from day 1 but NO that's another insane process. Yikes things should not be this difficult- moving is stressful enough I sure didn't need this.

The most inefficient staff. I read on a review at least 4 names were mentioned how kind they were. Who wrote this, your friend. I rarely get to speak with a helpful staff and even then, they make errors or don’t understand what is being said. Thus their “one star” review.

I spoke to a customer service rep and was told I had another week to pay and 30 min later they cut me off. No empathy at all from customer service. They will not work with you in order to reconnect, once they cut you off either you pay that same day ($50 fee added to bill) or you stay without electric even if you ask for 4 more days to pay in full. I would give 0 stars if I could.

THEY LEFT MY NAME ON ACCOUNT.

I went in to the office mid May of 2022, and requested my name taken off the electric bill. I was moving out of state for good and not keeping my name on record for the new tenants. That’s their job, not mine. I went in the office to confirm utilities would be shut off by the 29th of May, 2022. They confirmed to me that they would be, and I now know to get that confirmation in writing for everything. They confirmed verbally.

Fast forward over a year later, the new tenants waited until the 1/23 to just not pay the last two months leading up to putting it in their name bc the billing department somehow LEFT IT MY NAME after I no longer lived there and put the last Leesburg Utilities Dept. put that on MY CREDIT for collections!!! By the definition, they have committed fraud against me, so I called to request they fix this. I was told by two different people that I just needed to provide proof that I didn’t live there if somehow they just didn’t do their job (obviously) which I promptly obtained. I called back and was then told “it’s a civil matter” it is most certainly NOT a civil matter. You left the bill in my name which I told you I needed cancelled.

So y’all want me to sue the tenants of whoever moved in after me because they just kept paying the bill then scammed me and you both all because of your screw up? That’s what I call lack of accountability and passing the blame. Shameful business practices. Even the collections confirmed it as fraud and removed it from impacting my credit even further. Despicable practices, I haven’t decided if I will or will not be contacting my attorney further on the matter.

TLDR DO NOT TRUST THE BILLING DEPARTMENT. One or two may be good, but enough of them will pass the buck on and screw you over to save face and not have to take responsibility for their mistake.
