We absolutely loved working with Jasmin during our time in our rental. Hands-down the best property manager we've ever had. She was super responsive to any issues we had with the house (standard wear and tear/repair issues) and in addition, she's just warm and kind! The rental rate was good for Marin and we were genuinely sad to leave our little house. There are major benefits to dealing with a smaller, more personable property management company as opposed to those bigger places and never was that more apparent than during our time working Miracle Mile. Highly recommend!

My partner and I rented from the bottom floor of a duplex in Mill Valley from Miracle Mile Management from May 2019 to March 2020. Our experience with this rental was unimaginably bad and we want to warn prospective renters. The property manager’s name is Jasmin Yeargin and the owners of the house we rented are Carla and Bob Chapman, former real-estate agents.

To give one example right away, we had a fridge that made an extremely loud clicking noise (2 clicks per minute for minutes to sometimes hours at a time) that woke us up and made us lose sleep. When we asked to have the fridge looked at we were not only ignored but our concerns were dismissed. Then the fridge eventually stopped working and we had to live without one for the last 2 months we lived in this place, with the last 2 weeks being the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and shelter in place, which made getting food and not being able to stock up an extreme difficulty.

This company didn't follow through on legal requirements of property managers and broke several of our tenant rights. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and asked for repairs for the same issues multiple times without responses or solutions. In the end, we had to reach out and find legal help, which resulted in a settlement agreement.

Here is a summary of the issues:

-The apartment was visibly dirty at move in, especially the kitchen. There were hairs in the fridge and dirt/grime on all surfaces. The apartment was in a poor state in many ways. We asked to have it cleaned professionally and they sent a staff member who only cleaned window ledges. Throughout our tenancy, we were afraid we would be held accountable for any damage that was already done to the place at move in when we moved out.

-The laundry units (outside in a shed) were not fully functional for 4.5 months of tenancy. We were constantly asking for updates and the property manager just continued to send out ineffective repair people without following up.
-There were constant and disruptive demands to be present for inspections and repairs. Jasmin told us that it was our job to manage scheduling and being present for maintenance. One week, my partner was present for 27 hours of repair windows.
-Front window leaked and was very drafty. They refused to make any repairs to the window even though that falls in the realm of habitability. Their solution was to install curtains, which is a decoration, not a repair.
-There was a broken light fixture cover left hanging for almost one month.
-Broke right to entry law multiple times.
-Broken and dangerous glass, screws, and nails around the laundry shed. We told the property manager about this 6 times and it was never acknowledged or addressed.
-Pattern of rude and disrespectful communication
-Potential mold
-Fridge issue described above. The property manager sent different people to look at it 3 times before taking it seriously. After the 3rd repair person looked it at (and only looked at it even though we were told this person had the necessary part to make a repair and did not), it fully broke and would not cool/freeze. They then had a repair person weld the compressor in our house, and then that did not fix it. We lived without a fridge for the last two months of our tenancy, and at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, so we were not able to stock up on food. This issue was our main reason for seeking legal help.

While I know that not every experience will be the same, I believe that either for lower priced rentals or tenants that just need some repairs, you might not be treated in an ethical or even a legal manner. After reading up on our tenant rights we learned that many of the issues listed above were not legal. It’s frustrating and stressful to have your rights abused in your own home.

I can’t tell you how many hours my partner and I spent discussing these issues, writing emails to the property manager, etc. No one should go through this, so consider our experience before you sign a lease with Miracle Mile Management. If you do rent from them, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING.

I had a great experience with Jasmin & Miracle Mile Management for the nearly four years my husband and I rented one of her properties. She utilizes an online portal that makes paying rent and submitting maitenance requests a breeze. Any requests for general maitenance were responded to quickly and efficiently. Jasmin is professional, friendly, and overall a pleasure to work with.
