Redefy is a classic example of, you get what you pay for. Redefy was our hope of salvaging some of the costs of moving unexpectedly from the house we had just bought two years earlier. First, their agent recommended a selling price to us that we went with. We thought it was high but hey, the agent is the expert, and we will take a high price for our house. First day on the market, we got offered full asking price. Three weeks into the deal, VERY low appraisal by an out of county appraisal company. We received absolutely NO ADVOCACY from Redefy. We were told by OUR AGENT the appraisal was fair (wait...didn't you just recommend a price that was $13,000 higher?). so, deal fell through. Three weeks on the market and we get a contract that is VERY low but we had to take it because we were already under contract to buy a place in our new home state. So, we had the buyer inspection the next day. 27 days later, we had heard nothing. I contacted our agent (thank God I'm proactive) and asked what was going on-no appraisal, no survey, no nothing. The agent informed us that "unfortunately" the buyer financing had fallen through THE WEEK PRIOR...ummm, aren't you supposed to be on top of this? a) you waited a week to tell us and b) you didn't follow up with the buyer to make sure they were on top of it And thanks for telling us Well, at this point, we had already paid for the inspection and appraisal on our new place and had to pull out of the deal because we weren't going to be closing on our current place. $1500 down the toilet. Thanks Redefy. I spoke to the head of their Orlando office and received a run-of-the-mill apology of "I wasn't there and don't know what was said." I was advised that "we (Redefy) advertise the house at the price you tell us." OK, a) you advised us to list the house for that price and b) you folks are the experts, so if we "tell you" to list the house at a price it won't appraise for (a few thousand, ok...this was $13,000 lower), why would you actually list it at that price? You're supposed to be the experts in this field, NOT US, or we would have listed it ourselves. Bottom line: 2.5 months into putting the house on the market, we had had two contracts fall through and had lost our own deal on a place in a market that is so hot that we were lucky to get the place that we lost. I will never ever recommend them to anyone. They really screwed us and the best part is, all we got was some "Well, sometimes this happens." Um ok, well, it happened to us, and not taking any responsibility for your employees in handling your customers is probably the worst thing you could do. Oh, and all communication outside of the "apology" phone call is documented over email because their agents aren't overly responsive to phone calls. Think twice before using this company. After losing the $300 deposit we paid them, plus $1500 on our place that we didn't end up buying, plus $500 out of our earnest account to the sellers on that property, we actually ended up lighting $2300 on fire just to have Redefy not sell our house. I'm paying it forward by warning others about the lax attitude of this company-hey, they're only making $2500 off the deal, so no skin off their back. Heed this true warning, you absolutely get what you pay for.
