So I called to ask some questions and the lady on the phone said she could make an appt. Great. Then she said it was $400. I was like. Wow, I just want to ask some questions, I was thinking it would be closer to $100. She said. "For estate planning" and then hung up on me.
Yea, I may not be able to afford that, but it's no reason to be rude. Sorry I wasted your time but we all come from the same place.. Would not recommend.

I was so embarrassed to be filling for a Bankruptcy. Mr. Shipley could not have been any more easy to talk to, very calm and soft speaking. Office staff was also just as easy to talk to. That's why I give them a 5 GOLD STAR ⭐.

It’s always hard to start with a new attorney you’ve never used before especially in small business as I am. In this case Mr Shipley is a Class A+ Attorney. He took my case before a judge when the other side was unreasonable and the judge ruled in our favor. He is to the point and probably not a man of many words (which I don’t need when I paying for my time…. Give it to straight, get to the point and make a plan of action but tells you everything you need to consider and know while he listens to everything I have to say and explains a suggested path. His fees are fair and reasonable. Love this guy and he’s now my go to Attorney.

Shipley was used to handle the title and closing process for our home purchase. It appears they either partner with our lender or were requested by the seller. Nonetheless, our experience with them has been an absolute nightmare. Not only have they dropped the ball on every imaginable front possible, my husband and I as the buyers have had to get things done on their behalf to ensure that we closed and even after closing we are still dealing with their inept handling of our closing and their lack of professionalism and customer service. I would not recommend using them to anyone.

This review is to provide a detailed account of my experience. Shipley may be a great law firm, but my experience with Title was not at that level. If you prefer not to read the whole account you can read my TL;DR at the end that provides a brief summary, but does not express the experience.

FULL REVIEW:

Closing on a home is a big ordeal from both the buyer and sellers perspective. A lot of back and forth. Generally, the communication is handled by third parties whose sole purpose is to facilitate communication between both parties to ensure an easy transition.

The Title group helps in the final phases of signing and helps to ensure money goes from one group to the other with hopefully minimal or no headache.

REVIEW OF SHIPLEY(as Title):

The process working with Shipley felt convoluted. Signing and requesting documents through a piecemeal process and a confusing secure email communication that was only used in the beginning for wiring details. If you’ve ever bought or sold a home you can understand how frustrating this can easily become, nevertheless, the end reward is worth it, so you just keep pushing forward.

Walking into sign documentation was actually very welcoming. The woman (I prefer not to name at this time but will call her “A”) handling the final signing was initially inviting and had documents laid out ready to start bringing this transaction to a close. She explained the documents thoroughly and pointed to all the areas that the wife and I needed to sign. When coming to a close, she provided me with all initial unsigned copies of the documents in a folder and asked if I would like the copy of the documents we signed through secured email or hard copy. I figured secure email would be fine, rather than have an additional book of copies. We were done. Now the only thing that was remaining was a wire transfer to come through. I prefer not to get into any details about this portion, but I can say this is where the nightmare began. “A” stopped responding to emails, phone calls, and voicemails from all parties. Come to find out there was a delay in the transfer, but every was in the dark. Our agent had to call the sellers agent who in turn contacted Mr. Shipley to find out more details. Unfortunately this was on a Friday the weekend of Columbus Day. Frustrating. We spent the whole weekend with an incomplete transaction and no home. Not Shipley’s fault but “A” not being considerate enough to at least follow up left us in disarray; calling the world to gain more details. Come Tuesday the transaction completed and we were happy. Then the next issue came. “A” had not appropriately specified a signature block on a document so the mortgagee sent the document back. “A” decides to send the email INSECURELY to my email stating I’d signed incorrectly and needed to fix it. What a ball drop! I will have to hope no one monitors emails out of their office attempting to steal information. It’s a title company so it makes sense to hack their system. Now I’ll have to put monitoring on my credit and PAY that cost! On top of that, I never received the signed documents. I notified “A” about the issues and received in many words you can go to our front desk to sign and I’m sure i gave you the signed documents in your package. I felt a need to talk to Mr. Shipley himself and explain the issues as I would be sure he’d be concerned for his practice. We spoke and he stated he would take care of things and he would get me the copies I needed. I received an email from “A” stating she’d faxed my document to the mortgagee. I also had to follow up again for the signed documents a week later. Not a good experience honestly.

TL;DR: My documentation was sent through an insecure process, and a lack of concern or follow up on the situation.
