Doctor Elias is an amazing Doctor. She is so thoughtful and caring of her patients, and is always taking the time to discuss my concerns and make sure all of my questions are answered. She has also gone the extra mile working with my insurance to make sure I can get the medicine I need.

I was searching for a new GP and decided to try Sierra Madre Community Medical Group. Called on a Wednesday and spoke to Veronica, who was very polite and accommodating. She told me they had openings...the next day. Wait what? Just unbelievable! Went online, filled out my new patient forms. In less than 24hrs from my 1st contact, I met with Dr. Phuong Nguyen. Been in the emergency medical field for 30 years, I appreciated the extra time and detailed exam I received with him. At no time did I feel rushed, or have along wait and bottom line, I experienced a genuine concern for my health from SMCMG which is hard to find today. While everyone has different expectations and needs, mine were met to a high degree.

Late 2021, Dr. Grady informed me he would be retiring and promised that I wouldn't need to find prenatal care elsewhere because Dr. Chou or Dr. Hong would deliver my baby in March 2022. I called to confirm my 30week check up and was informed by front desk staff that I would no longer be seen due to OBs full to capacity. I thought it was so insensitive and even malpractice to be dropped from prenatal care just 10weeks before you're due to birth your baby. I was shocked, confused, deeply hurt and disappointed that there was no clear communication between doctors, or even between doctors and families about the continuing of care. No one had the decency to inform me by phone or email ahead of time. We struggled to find a new OB that would take us so late in our pregnancy and pleaded with insurance to expedite changing of groups for new prenatal care. I would not recommend Sierra Madre Community Medical Group for any of your healthcare needs.

I am new to this practice, and came here from an excellent practice that I knew would be a hard act to follow. So far at this time I have only been treated with dignity and kindness. I am very impressed with my new physician - Dr. Elias. She is very involved in my health process, shows great devotion to Medicine, and is clearly an intelligent and well schooled doctor. Great personality - I really dig her. Of course a doctor of this caliber knows how to put together an excellent staff, no you absolutely won’t be disappointed there either. Also, for those of you living in town - imagine being able to walk to your general practitioner...I do.

I love the staff at Sierra Madre Community Medical Group. I have been a patient here for many years. Dr. Cindy Chou delivered my son last year and it was the best experience I could have ever asked for. The front of office staff is always kind and helpful and the back of office staff always makes you feel at ease. They are extremely trustworthy. I can't say enough nice things about them. I would highly recommend this office.

I found this office to be highly unprofessional. I was looking for a general practitioner after switching insurance so I called to make an appointment. I was informed this would be a video call and then they would assess if I needed to come in. I agreed, and then it all went downhill from there.

1) No directions on how to connect to the video call, no confirmation of my appointment, no indication whatsoever they received my information that I had to hand deliver. I had to do all the followup.

I've already seen three different doctors (specialists) since COVID protocols began and so I know this is highly unusual. Every single doctor's office emails me or calls with important instructions about my upcoming visit.

2) After calling them for instructions, I was notified I would receive an email with a link to connect to the video call. At the time of my appointment, I still had not received any email. I had to follow up with them AGAIN to ask where the link was. Keep in mind they never instructed me to "check in" by calling them or any indication whatsoever I had to do anything but wait for an email with the link. If I hadn't called, I would probably still be waiting for that email.

3) I should have known when they said I had to hand deliver new patient forms to their office that this office was going to be a problem. All the other doctors offices have figured out email encryption or apps that do this confidentially by now due to COVID.

I called to ask if my husband could drop off my paperwork since I couldn't make it during business hours. They said that was fine and gave me the office address- this was their only instruction.

When my husband went to the front desk to drop it off, they asked him who this was for, which doctor I was meeting with, what's the date/time of my appointment, etc. Of course, he didn't know because I was never informed this was needed. Eventually, they told him to go through the back entrance and drop if off there where there's apparently another office. Something that would have been good to know when I called!

4) ZERO FOLLOWUP AFTER MY APPOINTMENT. No summary of my appointment, no information about the blood work the doctor said I was supposed to get, no receipt of my copay, nothing. I waited two days and then had to call AGAIN (seeing a pattern here?) just to find out.

When I finally got a hold of someone, they told me that info should be in my patient portal. WHAT PATIENT PORTAL?! To access the patient portal I need to know it exists in the first place. And apparently, they need to give me the access code for my file so it's not like I could've just done this on my own- it absolutely required followup from their office.

I believe that the way an office is run is a reflection of the professionalism of the doctors. It's an extension of their thoroughness and how much they care about their patients. I find no excuse for their lack of professionalism, especially after seeing how other doctors run their office.

In conclusion, if you have a lot of free time and love following up because you didn't receive sufficient information in the first place, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend saving yourself some time and frustration by going elsewhere.

Love both my doctors that I have here. Dr Emslie is an amazing primary doctor. She has an excellent bedside manner and is super polite. Dr Hong is an amazing on/gyn. She made my pregnancy and delivery wonderful. Couldn't ask for better doctors

Dr. Mirna Elias is great. She listens to you and truly cares about your health and wellbeing. Unfortunately my insurance is changing so I don't know if I will be able to come here again.
